Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap.......AC/DC
Wednesday 09-03-2008 8:31pm ET
Talk about dirty deeds. Just take a look at the latest issue of US magazine a chep rip off of People that graces your check out stand each week.  On the cover is a picture of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her new born child.  Over the lovely photograph of mother and child however are the words Babies, Lies, and Scandal!!  A few weeks ago a photgraph of candidate Barack Obama and his wife was title Why Barack Loves Michelle.  Do you notice a difference in the tone of the coverage?
Democrats don't even need to pay for this kind of dirty deed.  The main stream media falls in line almost hypnotized by the vague promises of change and hope given by Obama and Biden at every speech.  I don't expect US to give insightful political coverage to a topic so involved but niether do I expect it to slant the news about a political figure running for the nation's highest office.
Let's hope we can get past all the innuendo and accusations this election cycle and just look at the programs each candidate is offering us.  Change for the sake of change is nothing.
You're Just Like Me.... Usher
Tuesday 08-26-2008 10:40am ET

Last night Michelle Obama told us all that we are just like her.
We heard in her speech on Monday night that Michelle and the American public, at least those who are Democrats, are just like her and Obama.  We all struggle to make ends meet, we sit around the kitchen table and talk about how bad things are in the country, we struggle to make ends meet, and of course we look for someone to bring us together and give us hope.
I've never sat around the table and discussed finances with my kids, and there have been times I could have.  I never discussed with them the sacrifices my wife and I made so they could attend private schools and good colleges. And I've never looked for someone else to walk into my life and give me hope or promises of change. People who look to someone else for change in thier lives may be suprised at the change they end up with.  Only you can create the change in your life and the hope can only come from your own belief that you have the ability and the gifts to make a better life for yourself.
We wouldn't have to work two jobs, struggle to make ends meet, and raise our children in parentless homes if the government didn't take as much from your paycheck as they do now.  Imagine if you were able to keep just 50% more than what you take home now.  You wouldn't need Barack or Michelle to tell you to hope for change, you would be making the change yourself.
No One Is To Blame.....Howard Jones
Thursday 08-21-2008 10:56am ET
Jan Scotland will not be on the ballot this November for Lucas County commissioner because of a major screw up by the Republican Party leadership.  Jan is not without blame of course.  A candidate especially one who has run before should be aware of when paperwork deadlines are imminent.  But clearly the forms needed were in the hands of Jon Stainbrook and Matt Bartow who tried to turn them in two hours after the state madated deadline of 4pm.
They e-mailed them, they faxed them, they even put a packet under the door of the Board of Elections, but all after the 4pm deadline.  Is this the leadership that Mr. Stainbrook promised to the voters of Lucas County?  His first big test and he fails it miserably and then refuses to take responsibility for his actions.
On the show Thursday Jon continually referred to shortcomings in the BOE office in fact claiming that the only responsiblity he was willing to take was for "trusting the advice" given to him.  That's not good enough.  Real leaders stand up and take responsibility and then move on to the next challenge.  Having failed this one and not being man enough to admit it Mr. Stainbrook is well on his way to failing the next one also.
Podcasts of the Stainbrook and Pat Kriner interviews are at www.wspd.com
