Scott is the Program Director for 1370WSPD, and now you can hear him every weekday afternoon from 3pm to 6pm (as well as Sunday nights on Toledo's Rock, 104-7 WIOT). The Scott Show features lively conversation about pop culture, breaking news, money, politics, technology, and sports with host Scott Sands and a "Think Tank" of regular contributors from the local and national stage.
Your input and opinions are welcome! Call Scott, even if you disagree (especially if you disagree) at 419-240-1370. A few simple rules for calling The Scott Show:
1. Turn your radio down when we answer the phone. Turn it back up after the call :)
2. Speak up, and sound energetic.
3. Get right to your point and stay on topic.
4. Have fun!
Sands is a veteran broadcaster, digital/social media strategist, and political analyst. His radio career has spanned from the Gulf Coast to Southern California to the Midwest. Prior to joining 1370WSPD as Program Director in February 2013, he was Communications Director and Senior Policy Advisor for a Republican US Congressional Campaign in Indiana. He is a father of one, music buff, cigar afficianado, fan of the Indianapolis Colts & Alabama Crimson Tide.
Scott's political philiosophy is pretty basic: smaller federal goverment, lower taxes, and a strong national defense. Other specific concepts will be updated as they come up on the show, including:
Comic Vic Dibietto ... Snow! You've got to get the bread & milk!
Based on "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen and STAR WARS created by George Lucas. Performed by the Star Wars cosplayers of the Arizona geek community! Produced by the Students and Faculty of the Digital Video Program at University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona.
WILL FERRELL is continuing his all-out promotional onslaught leading up to the release of "Anchorman 2", which comes out December 18th. Yesterday he was on "The Dan Patrick Show", in character as Ron Burgundy. And the highlight was when he made fun of the show's heavy metal intro for their sports "Stat of the Day" segment ... and sang a much more mellow version.
"The Onion" posted a fake new report about the NYPD's controversial "stop and frisk" program. But they reported that it's actually called the "stop and KISS" program ... as in, cops stop you if you look suspicious, and PLANT ONE on you. Which is ridiculous, but it apparently fooled some people who actually thought it was REAL!
A teacher at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy has been placed on academic leave after nude photos of her have surfaced online. They appear to be "revenge porn," where photos sent to someone you trust are then exposed as a form of revenge.
Should the teacher face leave, or even potential firing over private photos that someone decided to share?
As a woman, especially a teacher, why leave photos like these in someone's control?
I'll talk with criminal defense attorney Lisa Wells, DefendingYourCase.com, about this at 3:10 Thursday afternoon and then take your calls at 419-240-1370.
Thursday, fast food workers in 100 cities are supposed to "strike" as part of an effort to demand their minimum wage be raised to $15/hour immediately. Demonstrations are supposed to be planned in 100 other cities. We'll see what happens here in Toledo and, of course, we'll talk about it on The Scott Show. Fast Food Forward, Fight For $15, and the SEIU are among organizations supporting the wage increase as well as the Obama administration and US Sen Sherrod Brown.
My friend "John," who owns quite a few major fast food franchises here in the Midwest, explained several reasons why this kind of unilateral wage increase will turn out to be bad for workers in the long run, bad for the economy, and ultimately bad for consumers. Check out the conversation below and leave a comment.
