Local charities seek volunteers others cancel events over coronavirus scare

The Cherry St Mission in a statement released this afternoon reiterated that it would continue to serve the homeless and those living in poverty as it has since 1947. During this time, volunteers are needed. In our food service opportunities to make sure our sanitation protocols are adhered to. During this time, volunteer opportunities will primarily focus on basic services. This includes services that allow us to meet the essential needs of our guests such as providing meals and emergency shelter. Our goal is to minimize the potential spread of all infectious diseases and to protect our staff, guests, volunteers, and ministry partners. Click here for contact information CHERRY ST MISSION

The Cancer Connection of Northwest Ohio has cancelled its' upcoming "Stronger Together Breakfast for March 18 because of the recent directive from Governor DeWine.

The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo has cancelled Friday prayers along with all Sunday activities. The Imam's sermons will be available live on the center's Facebook.

The Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority has issued this statement Thursday afternoon regarding steps being taken:

LMHA is implementing a three-phased work plan defined by:

1- Continued Education Phase: to continue providing information and guidance about COVID-19 to employees and LMHA’s clients including public housing residents and other programs’ participants.

2- Active Prevention Phase: to enforce actions that avoids COVID-19fromspreading.

3- Business Continuity Phase: to guarantee the continuity of LMHA Operations and services to LMHA’s clients including public housing residents and other programs’ participants.
