Toledo Council Votes to Empty a Fire Station

(Toledo, OH) Ottawa Hills will have an empty firehouse for at least six months.

Toledo City Council voted Tuesday evening to remove its firefighters from the Village of Ottawa Hills on a six-month trial basis.

The move is scheduled to take effect on October 1st.

Other Toledo fire stations will provide coverage to the village in the meantime.

If the trial period should prove to be acceptable, Ottawa Hills Fire Department would begin paying the City of Toledo an annual service fee of $430,000 for services rendered.
