TPS Cuts Ribbon on New Career-Tech Academy

(Swanton Twp., OH) Dozens of Toledo Public Schools students will get a new kind of education this fall.

District officials cut the ribbon Monday on the Aerospace and Natural Science Academy of Toledo.  High school students interested in aerospace, veterinary or agricultural careers can graduate with an associate’s degree and industry certifications.

Students from both programs will take their core high school classes together under one roof at a renovated hangar at Toledo Express airport, then separate for their career tech-prep coursework-- aviation students at the airport, vet and ag students at the TPS Natural Science Center near the Toledo Botanical Gardens, where greenhouses, animal cages, and workshop space is set up.

The district spent several million dollars on renovating both spaces over the summer.
