BBB Offers Free "Shred Day" on Saturday

(Toledo, OH) The Better Business Bureau is encouraging its members to spring clean, then shred.

The BBB is hosting its annual Shred Day on Saturday in for the former Sears store parking lot at Westgate. The consumer watchdog wants businesses to make more room by bringing old records like canceled checks, ledger books, and spreadsheets-- or just paper clutting their offices to turn it into confetti.

The first three bags will be shredded free, then it's three bucks per bag.

The BBB calls the event“Protect Your ID Day”, touting the free shredding as a safe way to also protect customers and clients from identity theft, because shredding is a safe way to eliminate personal information like Social Security numbers and bank account information.

Household electronics and computer equipment also will be accepted for free recycling Saturday. The event will run    9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and drew 1,000 cars last year.
