Ohio Lawmakers Debate Body Cam Records

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Police body cameras and privacy is at the center of a bill being debated by lawmakers at the Statehouse this week.

A House bill being considered by lawmakers would further define what part of video recordings is public record. It includes portions of police body camera video, and some recordings from public schools. Adoption proceedings, parole hearings and some video clips from youth services would be protected under the proposal. The bill is introduced by State Representatives Hearcel Craig (D-Columbus) and Niraj Antani (D-Dayton).
