Hickey Takes School Board Oath On Facebook

(Toledo, OH) A polarizing former superintendent in a Toledo-area school district is officially now a member of its board of education.

Former Washington schools superintendent Patrick Hickey took office Wednesday on Facebook Live, with a notary public administering the oath.

School board members are keeping Hickey off school property after confrontations during a Whitmer High School basketball game in 2015.  The board has agreed to hold meetings off district property for the next three months to allow Hickey to attend.

Hickey won election to a school  board seat in November. He parted ways with the school district under fire, after signing a separation agreement instead of facing allegations of harassment and inappropriate relationships with teachers and staff.
