Bowling Green Leaders Mull Pipeline Action

(Bowling Green, OH) Bowling Green officials are looking into official opposition to the controversial NEXUS natural gas pipeline.

BG city council could file a motion to intervene in formal federal approval of the high-pressure natural gas pipeline that is set to run near the city’s water treatment plant along the Maumee River.

City residents are concerned about drinking water quality in the future, prompting B-G leaders to reject an easement for the pipeline on city-owned land last December. A local grass-roots group is leading organized opposition, putting political pressure on B-G leaders.

Final approval is up to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission-- and the concern is there are a pair of upcoming appointments to the federal panel that opponents call “pro-pipeline."
