Plan Commission Rejects Kroger Marketplace Plan

(Toledo, OH) Plans to build a new Kroger Marketplace store in west Toledo are running into opposition. The Toledo Plan Commission rejected a proposal to rezone land along Secor Road for the proposed supermarket Thursday, citing traffic concerns and the impact on neighboring homes.

Concerned West Toledo neighbors packed the zoning hearing Thursday, which lasted four-and-a-half hours. The Kroger proposal was a reboot of one also rejected by the plan commission last year, this time for a $26 million Kroger Marketplace store on 18 acres of land at the Sisters of Notre Dame campus.

Toledo City Council will get the final say on whether to accept the commission's recommendation or vote to overturn the decision.
